HYUNDAI SOLAR
EVERETT, WASHINGTON
NEW SOLAR PANELS
GENERAL DESIGN LOADS:
Project is designed in accord with requirements of the 2015 International Building Code.
For this location, the following design parameters apply:
Occupancy Category II
Wind 110 MPH 3 second gust(LFRD), Exposure C
Seismic Site Class D, Design Category D1
Roof Snow Load 25 PSF (reduction for sliding snow not used)
Roof Dead Load 3.5 PSF (solar panels)
Soil = 1500 PSF (assumed),
GENERAL PROJECT SCOPE DISCUSSION:
This project involves the addition of arrays of roof mounted solar panels. Each array
consists of Itek 360-SE 72-Cell panels aligned in portrait mode. The panels are
supported by Unirac ballasted solar rail system.
Existing building being studied for solar has 5 1/4"x 20" glu-lam beams at 12 ft o/c with
3x decking spanning the 12 ft between beams. The back area of the building is framed
with 2x18 joists at 24" o/c spanning 21'-6"across the space.
The attached calculations check the solar rails for the design wind, dead load, and snow
loads and also the existing roof framing for new loading from solar(extra dead load)plus
the rails concentrate the snow load on the roof at rack locations. The framing was
found to be okay for the added solar dead.
ge2
