It is recommended that <br /> the northeast corner be underpinned to stabilize the foundation and prevent additional settlement. <br /> Lifting of the foundation to relevel the foundation is optional. The purpose of this report is to evaluate <br /> the subsurface soil conditions and provide recommendations for the underpinning. Our scope of work <br /> included a review the area geologic map, a site reconnaissance, evaluation of the foundation settlement, <br /> subsurface evaluation of the site soils with a hand augered boring and by probing, engineering analysis <br /> and preparation of this report. <br /> SURFACE CONDITIONS <br /> The subject residence is located in a residential neighborhood on the south side of 51'Street SW, <br /> approximately as illustrated on the Vicinity Map, Plate 1. The lot,Tax Parcel No. 00568000000400, <br /> is 0.28 acres in size. The home is a split-level entry with a daylight basement and attached garage. The <br /> parcel slopes down gradually to the northeast and it appears some fill was placed in the northeastern <br /> portion of the lot to create a more level yard. <br /> Approximately 3/4 inches of settlement has occurred at the northeast corner of the structure. A <br /> foundation settlement crack was observed on the east basement wall, approximately 8.4 feet south of <br /> the northeast corner of the house and a crack was observed in the foundation for the fireplace chimney <br /> on the east wall.
