EXHIBIT A <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Service Provider shall represent and act for the City Attorney's Office in matters pertaining to tort claims against the <br /> City. Service Provider will be expected to provide emergency service at any time to investigate an occurrence which <br /> may have liability implications for the City. City of Everett emergency claims shall take priority. Such duties shall <br /> include the following: <br /> • Receive notice of and create files on each claim submitted to Service Provider by the City Attorney's Office <br /> and maintain these files for the City.Each claim file shall be maintained on a current basis to reflect summary of <br /> investigation,witness names and addresses,liabilities,exposure,and recommended disposition; <br /> • Investigate all claims submitted by the City Attorney's Office to determine liability and estimated settlement <br /> value; <br /> • Request timely payments of claims,in accordance with settlement and payment procedures as established <br /> by the City Attorney's Office.The City will be solely responsible for providing payment as may be required for any <br /> claims assessed against it; <br /> • Prepare documentation and defense of cases,and assist assigned legal counsel in preparation of cases for <br /> litigation;and <br /> • Maintain and provide the City pertinent data on all claims payments. <br /> Page 13 <br /> 2019 Claims Investigation PSA <br />
