EVERETT
WASHINGTON
City of Everett Human Needs Grant
January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019
Exhibit A
Program Summary
Organization&Program: YWCA: Parents For Parents Program
The Parents for Parents Program is an early engagement, parent mentoring and education program that promotes the
safe and timely reunification of children with their parents,or an alternative permanency outcome when
reunification is not a viable goal. The program serves families who are newly engaged in the dependency system.
The Parents For Parents' Parent Ally Mentor engages parents early in the dependency process through education and
peer support from Parent Allies who have successfully navigated the child welfare system themselves.Parents
receive information and support to navigate the dependency system and, whenever possible,to safely reunify with
their child(ren),as well as to understand and provide their child(ren)with resources to promote their optimal
development. The 3 components of the P4P are:Parent Ally support at the 72-hour Shelter Care Hearings,
Dependency 101 and 201 classes and ongoing peer-to-peer mentorship at following court fact findings meetings.
The Parent For Parent Program has achieved status of a Promising Practice from Washington State Evidence Based
Practice Institute.
2019 Human Needs Contracts 7
