September 4, 2019 <br /> Julio Cortes introduced Tom Teigen who provided a briefing on a request,through <br /> the Snohomish county Tourism Promotion Area (TPA) Board, from the local <br /> lodging industry to amend the tourism promotion area interlocal agreement. He <br /> explained this amendment would increase the $1 per night room fee to $2 per <br /> night on rooms rented to visitors at lodging businesses with 50 or more rooms in <br /> the County. <br /> Council Member Murphy inquired about how much of the current funding is <br /> generated from hotels in Everett. <br /> Mr. Teigen stated he would provide an Excel spreadsheet containing this <br /> information. <br /> Council Members Stonecipher and Roberts stated they would like a copy of the <br /> market analysis and feasibility study conducted by Hunden Strategic Partners in <br /> 2018. <br /> Mr. Teigen stated he believes the document, commissioned by the Sports <br /> Commission through the TPA Board, is now available to the public. <br /> Moved by Council Member Tuohy, seconded by Council Member Vogeli, to <br /> authorize the Mayor to sign Amendment No.1 to the Interlocal Agreement with <br /> Snohomish County Parks, Recreation and Tourism. <br /> Council Member Murphy suggested delaying the action until such time as the <br /> requested documents may be reviewed by Council. <br /> Council Members Stonecipher and Roberts stated they preferred to wait until <br /> documents may be reviewed. <br /> Council Members Tuohy and Vogeli stated they were comfortable a delay. <br /> Council Member Roberts requested a complete copy of the letter that was <br /> directed to Snohomish County Councilman Ryan from the Snohomish County <br /> Lodging Association, as well as examples of the facility types, and additional <br /> information relating to the site selection process. <br /> 264 <br />
