EVERETT <br /> III WASHINGTON <br /> City of Everett Human Needs Grant <br /> January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019 <br /> Exhibit A <br /> Program Summary <br /> Organization &Program: Compass Health: Bailey GROWTH Center-Cooking and Healthy Eating Classes <br /> PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: <br /> The Compass Health Bailey GROWTH Center(G=Growth,R=Recovery,O=Opportunity,W=Wellness,T=Trust, <br /> H=Hope)Center is a peer recovery center in which individuals with behavioral health disorders can work on <br /> achieving their personal recovery goals.The GROWTH Center is a program focused on hope,recovery,and <br /> resilience.It provides a safe,positive,welcoming environment for individuals to gather and meet.The GROWTH <br /> Center provides recovery-oreinted groups,opportunities for socialization,educational presentations,individual peer <br /> support,peer-run groups,and assistance with accessing needed resources and services.Homeless persons with <br /> behavioral health disorders are included in the target population. <br /> Last year the GROWTH center used City of Everett funding to provide cooking groups/classes in the program. <br /> These groups have assisted participants to gain needed cooking skills,to learn how to read recipes,to gain <br /> nutritional information,to gain food safety knowledge,and to gain information regarding cooking on a budget. <br /> These groups have also increased potential employability of persons who may be interested in working in the food <br /> service industry.GROWTH Center Peer Counselors have also assisted interested persons in applying for food <br /> handler cards in order for clients to apply for specific food-industry employment options. <br /> The Bailey GROWTH Center program meets the City of Everett's Human Needs Priority of Persons with <br /> Disabilities.Individuals served in the GROWTH Center have behavioral health disorders and a number of <br /> participants have severe and persistent psychiatric disorders.All Cooking Group participants are expected to be <br /> persons with behavioral health disabilities.The Growth Center also serves persons with physical disabilities(e.g. <br /> individuals who use wheelchairs or use walkers)and some of these individuals have regularly attended the cooking <br /> groups.The City's Health Services priority is also addressed through referral and coordination of care.Multiple <br /> mental health treatment programs are co-located in the Bailey site including the CPIT(Crisis Prevention and <br /> Intervention Team),the PATH homeless services program,intensive mental health services(IOP and PACT),the <br /> HARPS supportive housing services program,and standard outpatient behavioral health services.The <br /> Counseling/Guidance/Legal Services and Counseling/Guidance priority is addressed at the GROWTH Center via <br /> peer counselor coaching and support. GROWTH Center peer counselors are able to assist cooking group participants <br /> with one on one support to address their cooking/healthy eating concerns as needed.The Compass Health <br /> GROWTH Center serves adults of all ages including seniors. <br /> PROGRAM OBJECTIVES: <br /> The specific objectives of the Bailey GROWTH Center's Cooking and Healthy Eating Groups are to assist <br /> participants in developing food preparation and cooking skills,to enhance their knowledge of healthy eating and <br /> nutrition,to increase their self-sufficiency,and to support participants in incorporating what they have learned into <br /> their lives taking into account their individual needs and recovery plans.To meet this objective the GROWTH <br /> Center intends to provide the cooking class groups to 90 Everett residents in 2019. <br /> 2019 Human Needs Contracts 8 <br />
