• <br /> ORDINAN E NO. i- j <br /> AN ORDINANCE providing for th- payment of transportation, meals, <br /> lodging and other incidental -xpenses incurred by applicants for <br /> employment with the City of E erett and providing for payment <br /> of travel and moving expenses of new employees of the City., and <br /> declaring an emergency to exi t. <br /> WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable that a uniform policy be adopted allow- <br /> ing for payment expenditures for c-rtain prospective employees in the <br /> professional field who have been r-quested to appear in Everett for an <br /> interview for employment with the ity of Everett, and <br /> WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable that a uniform policy be established <br /> governing payment of travel and mo iag expenses for new salaries em- <br /> ployees coming to work for the Cit, of Everett and to authorize payment <br /> of and expenses required in changi g their place of residence in order <br /> to accept employment with the City of Everett, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED: <br /> Section 1: That all prospective euployees, who have been requested to <br /> appear in the City of Everett for interview at the request of the <br /> Commissioner in charge of the part.cular department, and after approval <br /> by the City Council, shall be allo ed their actual cost of transportation <br /> by common carrier, or if by privat- automobile, 8C per mile and all <br /> necessary expenses of lodging and 'eals, to be evidenced by receipts. <br /> Section 2: The Commissioner of e:ch department is hereby authorized <br /> to pay the travel and moving expe se of all new salaried employees <br /> in his department, who, at the ti - of employment, reside out of Snohomish <br /> County and it becomes necessary t. move into the county, such expense <br /> not to exceed the following: <br /> a. Where travel is made by . blic carrier, the actual cost of such <br /> employee and dependent membe s of his or her immediate family for <br /> transportation upon such public carrier, plus a reasonable amount, <br /> not to exceed $25.00 per day, for such employee and his or her family <br /> for meals and miscellaneous ■ravel expenses; <br /> b. Where transportation is .y private automobile, the sum of 8C <br /> per mile; and in addition, t e City shall pay the sum of $25.00 per day <br /> for such employee and his or her family, provided that such subsistence <br /> allowance should not exceed she time necessary for travel at the <br /> average of 350 miles per day. <br /> c. The City will pay for the actual moving costs incurred for packing, <br /> crating, shipping and unloading household goods and personal effects <br /> of the employee and his or h:r immediate family by a commercial carrier <br /> up to a maximum weight of 10 000 lbs. Any costs for weight in excess <br /> of the maximum allowable wil be paid by the employee. <br /> d. The above and foregoing -llowance shall be deemed to be the <br /> maximum allowance to be paid by the City for such travel and moving <br /> expense of any new salaried =mployee, provided always that the <br /> -1- <br />
