• <br /> shall be constructed in such a man er as to be strong, watertight, <br /> not easily corrodible, rodent-proo , insect-proof, of not less than 15 <br /> and not more than 32 gallons capac ty, shall have two handles at the sides <br /> thereof and tightfitting lids. Su h lids shall not be removed except when <br /> necessary to place garbage and ref se in such cans or take the same there- <br /> from. When garbage and refuse is 'laced therein or taken therefrom, such <br /> lid shall be replaced by the pers. placing the same therein or taking <br /> the same therefrom. Refuse or ga •age cans shall not be filled with dish- <br /> water or other liquid or semi-liq id kitchen wastes which are properly dis- <br /> posable down the sanitary drains, such cans shall not be overloaded beyond <br /> the point where covers can be sec rely replaced. Such cans shall be kept <br /> in a sanitary condition with the outside thereof clean and free from accumu- <br /> lative grease and decomposing materials. Each can shall be kept in a place <br /> accessible to the collector, and :hall be placed upon collection days with- <br /> in fifteen (15) feet of the curb •r edge of the public streets or alleys <br /> as actually improved. In the eve t the can or cans cannot be so located, <br /> additional charges may be made as hereinafter set forth in Section 10 of <br /> this ordinance. <br /> Further, with reference to the accumulation of refuse and with reference <br /> to the use of garbage cans or ga.bage receptacles, it is further provided <br /> as follows, to-wit: <br /> (a) Each garbage can shall be kept clean inside and out, <br /> so that nta odor nuisance s all exist, and the area around said <br /> cans shall be kept in a ne t and sanitary condition. The <br /> garbage collector shall pl:ce tags or suitable notification on` <br /> garbage cans found to be i violation of this section, and notify <br /> the Sanitation Superintend•nt. The tag shall have a perforated <br /> stub, with identification umber and place for location and <br /> description. Two or more iolations of this provision shall <br /> subject the person to penalties as provided herein. <br /> (b) No garbage can •r receptacle shall be overloaded with <br /> earth, rocks or heavy ref se beyond the point where one pickup <br /> man can lift the can to t e pickup truck, that is, approximately <br /> seventy-five (75) pounds •er can. Special pickups such as paper, <br /> magazines, Christmas tree• or .other rubbish shall be placed on <br /> collection day at the gar age can or as near thereto as possible <br /> and shall be bundled with heavy twine or packaged. Customers must <br /> restrain vicious dogs beyond reach of the garbage cans and prevent <br /> any interference with pic' up men on this account. <br /> -4- ORDINANCE <br />
