If needed, a brief summary <br /> of the comment is provided followed by our response to the comment. <br /> Geotechnical Comments: <br /> 1. Response: The calculations and drawings have been updated to incorporate a maximum lateral <br /> bearing soils strength base value of 100pcf per IBC Table 1806.2. Please note that this value <br /> may be doubled per IBC Section 1806.3.4 for "buildings that are not adversely affected by a 1/2" <br /> motion at the ground surface." Please see the revised drawings and calculations for additional <br /> information. <br /> Architectural Comments: <br /> 1, 2. Response: The General Notes on Sheet S1.0 have been updated to include the Occupancy and <br /> Type of Construction. Please see the revised drawing for additional information. <br /> 3. Response: Per IBC Table 602, Footnote h, carport buildings of Group U Occupancy do not <br /> require fire-resistance where the fire separation distance is 5'-0" or greater. As noted, the worst <br /> case fire separation for these carports is 7'-0". Therefore, no fire wall is required <br /> 4. Response: The drawings and calculations have been updated to include the required separation <br /> per ASCE 12.12.3. Please see page 30 of the revised calculations and the revised drawings for <br /> additional information. <br /> Structural Comments: <br /> 1. Response: As discussed, per IBC Section 1704.2, Exception #2, Group U Occupancies that are <br /> accessory to a residential occupancy do not require Special Inspections. Per IBC Section 312.1 <br /> Carports fall within Group U. These carports are accessory to a Residential Group apartment <br /> Civil, Structural and Survey A <br />
