SITTS & HILL ENGINEERS, INC.
the redundancy factor of 1.3 is more conservative than the amplified seismic load including the
overstrength factor for cantilevered columns of 1.25 per ASCE Table 12.2-1. Per ASCE Section
12.4.3.2, the redundancy and overstrength factors are not applied at the same time.
13. Response: The design considers a redundancy factor of 1.3 per page 7 of the calculations.
14. Response: The axial load on the columns is less than 20% of the columns axial capacity, per
ASCE 12.5.4, no seismic load interaction is required.
15. Response: No seismic load interaction is required per response to Structural Comment 14. The
column is structurally adequate for the load combinations per ASCE Sections 12.4.2.2 and
12.4.3.2. The axial load in the column does not exceed 15% of the column axial capacity. Please
see page 24 of the revised calculations for additional information.
Please see the revised Drawings for additional information.
