ORDINANCE NO. ,f/;2. <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING EVERETT CITY CODE 8. 12.010 AND 8. 12.040 <br /> PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ONE-WAY STREETS AND ALLEYS, <br /> DESIGNATION THEREOF, ESTABLISHMENT OF TRAFFIC RULES AND AUTHOR- <br /> ITY TO INSTALL TRAFFIC-CONTROL DEVICES, AND AUTHORITY TO ESTAB- <br /> LISH A PLAY STREET TO BE SET ASIDE FOR EDUCATION, AMUSEMENT OR <br /> RECREATION OF CHILDREN OR ADULTS. c i2o 60zii <br /> NOW, THEREFORE , the CITY OF EVERETT does ordain as follows : <br /> Section 1 : That Everett City Code 8. 12.010 be and the <br /> same is hereby amended to read as follows , to-wit: <br /> 8. 12.010 One-way streets and alleys , desira- <br /> tion--Traffic rules--Authority to install traffic- <br /> control devices . The city council of the City of <br /> Everett may, by ordinance, designate any city streets <br /> or alleys for one-way traffic, and upon such designa- <br /> tion being made by the city council by ordinance, the <br /> Traffic Engineer shall then erect appropriate signs <br /> giving notice thereof; provided, that upon a street, <br /> alley or roadway designated and sign posted for one- <br /> way traffic, a vehicle passing around a rotary traffic <br /> island shall be dirven only to the right of such <br /> island. <br /> The Traffic Engineer of the City of Everett, when <br /> authorized by written resolution of the city council , <br /> shall do the following acts with respect to traffic <br /> control devices: <br /> ( 1 ) Place and maintain traffic control signs , <br /> signals , and devices when and as required under the <br /> traffic ordinances of this city to make effective the <br /> provisions of said ordinances , and may place and <br /> maintain such additional traffic control devices as <br /> he may deem necessary to regulate traffic under the <br /> traffic ordinances of the city or under state law, <br /> or to guide or warn traffic. <br /> (2) Determine upon what streets or portions <br /> thereof vehicles shall be angle parked and shall <br /> indicate the same by marks or signs placed in such <br /> streets or portions thereof. <br /> (3 ) Prohibit at certain times , or entirely, <br /> or shorten the time during which vehicles may be <br /> parked in locations where traffic tends to congest <br /> and erect appropriate signs indicating such locations <br /> and the hours during which the same shall be kept in <br /> force or deemed in use. <br /> (4) Establish school crossings at intersections <br /> in the vicinity of schools where crossing the road- <br /> way by school children is dangerous and is hereby <br />
