1 6-02.3(2)A1 Contractor Mix Design for Concrete Class 4000D <br /> 2 Item number 5 of the first paragraph is deleted. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Item number 6 of the first paragraph (after the preceding Amendment is applied) is renumbered <br /> 5 to 5. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 6-02.3(2)B Commercial Concrete <br /> 8 The second paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 9 <br /> 10 Where concrete Class 3000 is specified for items such as, culvert headwalls, plugging <br /> 11 culverts, concrete pipe collars, pipe anchors, monument cases, Type PPB, PS, I, FB and <br /> 12 RM signal standards, pedestals, cabinet bases, guardrail anchors, fence post footings, <br /> 13 sidewalks, concrete curbs, curbs and gutters, and gutters, the Contractor may use <br /> 14 commercial concrete. If commercial concrete is used for sidewalks, concrete curbs, curbs <br /> 15 and gutters, and gutters, it shall have a minimum cementitious material content of 564 <br /> 16 pounds per cubic yard of concrete, shall be air entrained, and the tolerances of Section 6- <br /> 17 02.3(5)C shall apply. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 6-02.3(4) Ready-Mix Concrete <br /> 20 The first sentence of the first paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 21 <br /> 22 All concrete, except lean concrete, shall be batched in a prequalified manual, semi- <br /> 23 automatic, or automatic plant as described in Section 6-02.3(4)A. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 6-02.3(4)D Temperature and Time For Placement <br /> 26 The following is inserted after the first sentence of the first paragraph: , <br /> 27 <br /> 28 The upper temperature limit for placement for Class 4000D concrete may be increased to a <br /> 29 maximum of 80°F if allowed by the Engineer. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 6-02.3(5)C Conformance to Mix Design <br /> 32 Item number 1 of the second paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 33 <br /> 34 1. Cooling of the <br /> 40 coarse aggregate piles by sprinkling with water is permitted provided the moisture content <br /> 41 is monitored, the mixing water is adjusted for the free water in the aggregate and the <br /> 42 coarse aggregate is removed from at least 1 foot above the bottom of the pile. Sprinkling of <br /> 43 fine aggregate piles with water is not allowed.
