I <br /> 1 tablet form fertilizer is specified, fertilizer shall be applied concurrently with plant <br /> 2 installation. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Fertilizer sprayed on signs or sign structures shall be removed the same day. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Areas not accessible by fertilizing equipment shall be fertilized by allowed <br /> 7 hand methods. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Second Application:A second application of fertilizer shall be applied as specified <br /> 10 in the Special Provisions at the locations designated in the Plans. The fertilizer <br /> 11 shall be applied during the months of March, April, or May of the following year <br /> 12 after the initial seeding, planting, or lawn installation. The fertilizer shall be dry <br /> 13 granular pellets or pearls and applied in accordance with the manufacturer's <br /> 14 recommendations or as specified in the Special Provisions. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 8-02.3(7) Layout of Planting, Lawn and Seeding Areas <br /> 17 The Contractor shall lay out and prepare planting and lawn areas and receive the <br /> 18 Engineer's acceptance of layout and preparation prior to any installation activities. <br /> 19 The Contractor shall stake the location of all trees larger than 1-inch caliper and the <br /> 20 perimeter of all planting areas for acceptance by the Engineer prior to any <br /> 21 installation activities. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 The Contractor shall locate all trees to be planted in mowable grass areas a minimum <br /> 24 of 10 feet from the edge of planting areas, other trees, fence lines, and bottom of <br /> 25 ditches unless otherwise specified. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Tree locations shown in the Plans shall be considered approximate unless shown <br /> 28 with stationing and offset distance. In irrigated areas, trees shall be located so their 1 <br /> 29 trunk is a minimum of'./3 of the spray radius away from the nearest sprinkler head. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Unless otherwise shown, planting areas located adjacent to Roadways shall begin 6 1132 feet from the edge of shoulder on roadway fills and begin 5 feet up on the back slope <br /> 33 from the bottom on roadway cut sections. Plants within planting areas shall be located <br /> 34 such that mature branching pattern will not block sight distance, signs, or other traffic- <br /> 35 related devices. No trees shall be placed where the mature canopy will grow to within <br /> 36 10 feet of existing power lines. Where roadside ditches are present, planting areas <br /> 37 shall begin 5 feet from the centerline of the ditch unless shown otherwise in the Plans. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 8-02.3(8) Planting <br /> 40 8-02.3(8)A Dates and Conditions for Planting <br /> 41 No plant material shall be planted until it has been inspected and accepted for <br /> 42 planting by the Engineer. Rejected material shall be removed from the project <br /> 43 site immediately. All plants for the project or a sufficient quantity to plant 1-acre <br /> 44 of the site, whichever is less, shall be received on site prior to the Engineer <br /> 45 beginning inspection of the plants. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Under no circumstances will planting be permitted during unsuitable soil or <br /> 48 weather conditions as determined by the Engineer. Unsuitable conditions may <br /> 49 include frozen soil, freezing weather, saturated soil, standing water, high winds, <br /> 50 heavy rains, and high water levels.
