Toning pigments shall be
I 21 laminar silicates, titanium dioxide, and inorganic oxides only. There shall be no
22 settling or color variation. Tinting shall occur at the factory at the time of manufacture
23 and placement in containers, prior to initial shipment. Use of vegetable or marine oils,
I 24 paraffin materials, stearates, or organic pigments in any part of coating formulation
25 will not be permitted. The color of pigmented sealer shall be as specified by the
26 Contracting Agency. The Contractor shall submit a 1-quart wet sample, a drawdown
I
27 color sample, and spectrophotometer or colorimeter readings taken in accordance
28 with ASTM D2244, for each batch and corresponding standard color card. The
29 calculated Delta E shall not exceed 1.5 from the Commission Internationale de
30 l'Eclairage (CIELAB) when measured at 10 degrees Standard Observer and
I 31 Illuminant D 65.
32
33 The 1-quart wet sample shall be submitted in the manufacturer's labeled container
I 34 with product number, batch number, and size of batch. The companion drawdown
35 color sample shall be labeled with the product number, batch number, and size of
36 batch. The Contractor shall submit the specified samples and readings to the
37 Engineer at least 14 calendar days prior to the scheduled application of the sealer.
I 38 The Contractor shall not begin applying pigmented sealer until receiving the
39 Engineer's written approval of the pigmented sealer color samples.
40
I 41 9-08.3(2) Exposed Aggregate Concrete Coatings and Sealers
42 9-08.3(2)A Retardant Coating
43 Retardant coating shall exhibit the following properties:
I 44
45 1. Retards the set of the surface mortar of the concrete without preventing
46 the concrete to reach the specified 28 day compressive strength.
47
48 2. Leaves the aggregate with its original color and luster, and firmly
49 embedded in the concrete matrix.
50
III
ICITY OF EVERETT AMENDMENTS
PACIFIC AVENUE TO INTERURBAN TRAIL BICYCLE SAFETY PROJECT 8/12/2019
I
STATE FUND#HLP PB17(014); COE#PW3688 Page AM-125
