I <br /> City of Everett 01 35 44 - 1 <br /> South Precinct Roof Replacement <br /> SECTION 01 35 44 - HAZARDOUS MATERIALS PROCEDURES <br /> PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> I <br /> 1.1 SUMMARY <br /> A. Section Includes: Hazardous materials abatement, Under the Work of this Contract, <br /> including proper remediation of Asbestos Containing Materials, Lead remediation, Light <br /> Fixture Component recycling of fluorescent tubes containing mercury and proper <br /> disposal of ballasts containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), as well as Biohazard <br /> pre-cleaning and Silica remediation prior to and during demolition, transportation and <br /> proper disposal of construction waste materials removed from the detached Duplex <br /> Building located west of the Everpark Garage at the subject site. <br /> B. Renovation, Selective Demolition for the Everpark Garage includes employer <br /> compliance with current federal, state and local health and safety regulations for <br /> construction in the commercial building, Under the Work of the Contract. Other than <br /> methods used to minimize the creation of dust, prompt cleanup and employer <br /> compliance with current regulations to reduce the potential for worker exposure to <br /> potential hazardous materials, no abatement has been scheduled for the Everpark <br /> Garage building. <br /> 1.2 <br /> ASBESTOS REMEDIATION <br /> A. Conform to Authorities Having Jurisdiction for asbestos remediation including PSCAA, <br /> WISHA and EPA regulations. <br /> B. All remediation work shall be in conformance with Authorities Having Jurisdiction and <br /> as directed by the Owner and coordinated with other construction activities at the work <br /> site as specified in the Work of this Contract. <br /> �1 C. Off-Limit Areas: Do not allow unauthorized personnel to enter areas marked by <br /> "Danger Asbestos Hazard" and other required warning labels and signage. <br /> 1.3 LEAD REMEDIATION <br /> A. Conduct lead hazard control activities, minimize dust and immediately clean up dust <br /> from all work activities, demolition and disposal of <br /> B. Conform to Authorities Having Jurisdiction for regulations, laws, and ordinances for <br /> controlled removal, handling, storage, disposal, and using initial monitoring and <br /> required personal protective equipment for worker protection. This includes taking <br /> measures to: <br /> 1.
