Sharon Fuller
From: Deb Williams
Sent: Wednesday, October 9, 2019 12:45 PM
To: Cassie Franklin; Nick Harper; Lyle Ryan; David Hall; Sharon Fuller; Marista Lane
Subject: FW: Todays Public Safety Meeting
From:jay Jones<jayhixjones@gmail.com>
Sent: Wednesday, October 09, 2019 12:43 PM
To: DL-Council <Council@everettwa.gov>
Cc: Deb Williams<DWilliams@everettwa.gov>
Subject: RE:Todays Public Safety Meeting
Dear City Council Members,
My name is Jay Hix Jones and my daughter, Hunter Rose Jones, was diagnosed with stage four high risk neuroblastoma
on September 22, 2017 and treated at Seattle Children's Hospital (both in Seattle and Everett) for 18 months. She was
given a 50/50 chance of survival. Hunter Rose used medical cannabis throughout her entire main protocol treatment. It
was HUGE for us and helped her appetite, mood, pain management, and eventually replaced many of the toxic
medicines/narcotics she was on.Although Hunter Rose has finished her main protocol treatment at Children's and
currently shows no signs of disease, she is enrolled in a cancer vaccine trial through March of 2020 and still using
cannabis.
My wife and I both struggled tremendously throughout her main protocol treatment because of the limited number of
cannabis stores in the Everett area. Close proximaty and better access to cannabis stores would have helped
tremendously. We spent 170 days inpatient in the hospital and when you are home every minute counts. Sometimes we
would have to drive to three or four stores to find the right product and price we could afford. As a resident of Everett it
is very important to our family and others like us to increase the number of stores to give better access.
We are aware there is a public safety meeting this evening to discuss the issue of potentially increasing the number of
stores that are able to operate in Everett. My wife and I plan on attending the meeting and are available to meet with
anyone who is willing to hear our story and discuss the issue further.
We certainly thank you in advance for understanding our family's cannabis issue is a lot of families and needs to be
heard and addressed.
Jay Hix Jones
(c): 323.251.8586
1
