Services provides emergency ' - -� <br /> r 7 <br /> supplemental meals to Everett families in need. <br /> $ j <br /> The Hunger Prevention Program operates two distinct programs; 4 ' '•i i <br /> ,..----,A1111v---;: , -4—,,,... <br /> 1) The Food Distributiob.Services for 18 food banks and 14 meal sites ‘`. rF' <br /> throughout Snohomish County and; ;� <br /> 2) The Everett Food Bank Program(Everett Food Bank;two <br /> satellite/pop-up food pantries;meal home deliveries;school backpack ; <br /> programs;and community college food panties).We are adding.a ` <br /> preschool weekend food bag program this year as well with other f t <br /> schools corning to us for assistance with their food-insecure student <br /> needs. . . _ <br /> ..� T - <br /> Everett Food Bank Program 2018 <br /> Future Plans • 51,635 individuals within <br /> Both the Distribution Center and the Everett Food Bank have outgrown the Everett households use one <br /> current facility.For distribution,the building is difficult for semi-trucks to of VOAWW's food banks or <br /> maneuver through an alley with tight turns.There is no loading dock meaning pantries each year <br /> a trained forklift driver is required for all off-loading.The food banks served • 557,658 lbs.of food <br /> by the Distribution Center have limited dry storage and refrigeration and we • 464,715 meals are provided <br /> would like to provide the storage area to help accommodate their operations. • $964,748 value of Meals <br /> In the Everett Food Bank, a recent change in service delivery allows Everett consumers to visit twice a month at my <br /> of VOAWW operated food banks or pantries.This change in service increased visits by 13%and that regi es <br /> additionalfood sourcing,staff&volunteer support,and community engagement The current location does not <br /> provide adequate space for receiving,sorting,and distributing the food needed to support the food-insecure <br /> population of Everett.A larger facility to serve more neighborhood pop-up food pantries would be an ideal solution. <br /> Mobile pop-up food pantries allow the food to go to the consumer in their own neighborhoods thereby reducing the <br /> barrier of transportation;allowing for more culturally appropriate foods based on.neighborhood demographics;and <br /> creating additional community partners to solve hunger.It is our intention to continue current-levels of food <br /> distribution as well as improve food procurement of healthy,nutrient-dense foods with little to no down-time <br /> between.moves.
