Materials free of organics may be stockpiled for later use as
struttural fill. Any wet. yielding, or pumping areas should be excavated and
backfilled with a"structural fili" as outlined in Section 5.2 of this report.
.Alternatively, a nan-sensitive imported material such as washed rock or quarry
spalls, may be used in place of structural fill.
Considering the moisture-sensitive nature of the site soils care should be taken
to minimize disturbance of bearing soils due to equipment or foot traffic.
especialiy during wet weather conditions. Appropriate measures may include
shutting down earthwork activities when the site is wet, or designating specific
areas as haul-road and staging areas, and protecting these areas with quarry
spalls or similar materials.
5.2 Structural Fill .
All fill placed in building or pavement area should be placed in accardance with
the recommendations for "structural fiil'.
