It's my understanding that the name being considered is City
Plaza. That name is so generic that it surely will need a verbal add -on such as "City Plaza
by the Performing Arts Center," or "City P aza next to the theater on Wetmore" or some
such description when directing someone to it. The name gives no indication of location
or association to its surroundings, let alone indicating the Playa's intended use.
We already have a plaza by the county courthouse that was given no name — at least none
I have been able to find, although I have asked. It would seem logical thatthey would
have named it Courthouse Plaza or some such locator, but because they did not name it, it
requires a description to direct someone there. So now we will have two plazas that
require directions because their name or no -names tells us nothing.
The name City Plaza poses an additional problem much like City Hall is experiencing
now. City Hall does not need to be "renamed" because there is the implication that its
name is Everett City Hall. If you name the plaza City Plaza, someone at some time will
feel the need to give it a "proper" name. Only if someone has relieved the taxpayers of
the burden of financing this plaza shouldit receive some individual's name.
Please go back to the drawing board and find a name that gives location or suggests its
intended use.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
kilet- 670,6,
Vicki Rosenau
2307 Maple
Everett, WA 98201
Novi 9WW12
CITY OP Y
Planning f D3 p " 7
