Jan Meston: The public hearing, your discussion and input from the Park Board. We will gather all
the information that has come forward for your consideration and to help you come to a
recommendation.
Dave Koenig: There have been very good comments tonight on historical background and branding
of areas downtown. The broader comments this evening about the city's history could be discussed
further at a later time.
Jan Meston: It is conceivable that the Commission could recommend more than one name to City
Council with supporting arguments.
Gary Meisner: I would like to think the Park Board and Parks staff would be in agreement with
whatever we choose to do. I was wondering if there is room for them to come back with a preferred
name that may be different than what we are talking about today.
Dave Koenig: Yes, there is room for that.
Jim Staniford: Is there a time frame on this?
Paul Kaftanski: From my perspective, no.
Jim Staniford: What is the timeframe on completion of the plaza?
Paul Kaftanski: The project will be substantially complete by the Wintertide Event, December 13`h.
That means it is open for public use although the project is not fully complete. The mosaics on the
moon ball will continue to be installed, but it will not prevent the public from using the plaza. That
work will continue into next year depending on weather.
Jim Staniford moved to continue the public hearing until the January 22, 2013, Historical
Commission Meeting. Barb Hardman seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Jan Meston: The record of the public hearing and discussion this evening will be forwarded to the
Park Board.
6
