We opened the public hearing at that meeting and the
Historical Commission had a discussion, then you continued the public hearing until the January
Commission meeting. This allowed for the Parks Board to consider the proposed name, public
comments and Historical Commission discussion and to make their recommendation on December 11,
2012. You received the minutes from their meeting in your packets for tonight. Tonight our goal is to
continue the public hearing and allow for the public to continue submitting comments.
You have also received in your packet a number of suggestions for names that have come in the mail,
and we have one suggestion just submitted today which you have received this evening. It is our hope
that you can formulate a recommendation to City Council this evening on a name or names.
Neil Anderson: The public hearing is now open. Please come to the podium to make comments.
Barbara Lamoureaux: Will Paul Kaftanski summarize the Parks Board discussion and
recommendation?
Paul Kaftanski: The Parks Board did not recommend one name but narrowed the list of names that it
received and sent two for back to the Historical Commission for further consideration. Those two
names were "Theatre Plaza" and "Wetmore Plaza." Dave Ramstad attended the Parks Board meeting
also.
Jan Meston: The Parks Board also recommended that "Theatre" be spelled with the "re", consistent
with the Village Theatre.
Gail Chism: You said "Wetmore Plaza," "Wetmore Theatre Plaza"?
