EVERETT WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 3704-19 An Ordinance Levying the General Taxes for the City of Everett for Fiscal Year Commencing January 1, 2020, on All Taxable Property, Both Real and Personal, Subject to Taxation Thereon, for the Purpose of Raising a Portion of the Revenue to Carry on City Operations for the Ensuing Year, as Required by the Charter of the City of Everett and the Laws of the State of Washington WHEREAS, A. The City Council of the City of Everett duly and regularly adopts as required by law the estimate of the amounts required to meet the public expense and the amount to be raised by taxation for ensuing year. B. The City Council of the City of Everett is considering its budget for the calendar year 2020. C. The City Council, in the course of considering the budget for 2020, reviews all sources of revenue and examines all anticipated expenses and obligations. D. The City Council finds that in order to meet the rising cost of providing essential public services, a substantial need exists to increase regular property tax collections by one percent as provided for in RCW 84.55.0101. NOW,THEREFORE,THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. That there be, and hereby is, levied upon real and personal property in the City of Everett, subject to taxation thereon, a general property tax for municipal purposes commencing on January 1, 2020, as follows: REGULAR PROPERTY TAX LEVY The Everett City Council hereby authorizes the property tax levy for collection in the year 2020 at $38,092,993.00 (including a $377,158.35 increase in dollar amount, which is a 1% increase over the amount of taxes lawfully levied by the City in 2019), plus an estimated $400,000.00 from new construction, improvements to property, annexations, and changes in state-assessed property, and $13,842.84 resulting from a refund levy, for a total of$38,506,835.84. EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES The Everett City Council hereby authorizes the property tax levy for collection in the year 2020 at $9,321,598.32 (including a $92,293.05 increase in dollar amount,which is a 1% increase over the
