Staff subsequently contacted the original.manufacturer(Landscape Structures) of the park's playground equipment(which was installed in 2007). The manufacturer will remove the existing destroyed equipment and fall protection system and then install updated play equipment of the same design as the destroyed original equipment. The PlayBooster includes components such as a turbo twister slide, a thunderhead climber and the connection system for a spacelink climbing net(which will also be replaced due to fire damage). The detailed scope for the project includes two primary tasks: 1) demolition,removal and disposal of the destroyed equipment and fall protection system;and 2) acquisition,manufacture,delivery and installation of replacement play equipment and fall protection. RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): Adopt an ordinance creating a special improvement project entitled"Garfield Park Playground,"Fund 354, Program 042,for the replacement of certain Garfield Park Playground Equipment destroyed by the May, 2013 fire.
