The grants are awarded through a competitive process and may be used solely for energy and operational cost savings improvements. The immediate goal of the program is to stimulate Washington's economy by creating jobs. The long-term goal is to reduce energy costs at the state's public education facilities and local agencies. The City submitted a grant application comprised of projects totaling$767,763. These projects consisted of heating and cooling system upgrades in three buildings(Evergreen Branch Library,William E. Moore Historic City Hall, and Everett Performing Arts Center). The City will receive $191,949 from the Washington State Department of Commerce toward this effort. RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): Authorize the Mayor to sign the Interagency Agreement with the Washington State Department of Commerce for Energy Efficiency Grants for Local Governments program in the amount of$191,949. 17
