These comments address building issues only, additional <br />revisions or additions may be required by other departments (such as Utilities, planning <br />or Fire). All references refer to the 1991 Uniform Building Code, as amended by the <br />State of Washington and/or Washington State Energy Code 1994, 2nd Edidon, unless <br />stated othenvise. <br />1. Two exits are req�ired from the main floor area. <br />2. Ezits are required to have a minimum separation of one-half the mazimum <br />diagonal of the building or azea served measured in a straight line between <br />exits. Section 3303(c). <br />3. Handrails must have their ends retumed or terminate in newel posts or safety <br />terminals. Section 3306(i), This item and iter:� 4 apply to all stairs including <br />the "reading" stair. <br />4• At least one handrail shall extend at least 12^ be}�ond the top riser and 23 inches <br />beyond che bottom riscr.
