This request was made subsequent to an act of
arson that destroyed a part of the playground at Garfield Park in May, 2013.
The presentation is designed to provide City Council an overview of the various types of incidents and issues
related to park asset vandalism and general security/safety that staff address and respond to throughout the
year. This includes the type of personnel, skill and scope required to restore park assets damaged by acts of
vandalism and "pro -active" efforts deployed to help safeguard park assets and customer security/safety.
Policy, as well as business operational considerations will be presented for review.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
1
