Project k'009-1SJ
I
1.0 PRO.IECT DESCRIPTION
I "fhe projcct site is locatcd at the suuthwcst corncr of 14'" Stmet and Aroadway Avenu in
Lverctt. Vashington. Thc site address includes 1402, 140G, and 1430 Broadway Aenue.
The approximatc location of the site is shown on the Site Vicinity Map, Figure I. The sitc
is currently occupicd by mcdical / health service buildings in the southem portion of thc
site. The northcrn portion of the site is a landscaping area.
RGI undcrstands that thc clicnt is plnning to build a new commun'sty health ccntcr
(approsimately 18.000 square feet) in the northem portion of the site. The existing
buildings ill br demolishcd and become the futurc parking lot Our understandine cf 1;ie
i project is based on thc Sitc Plen Option I3 prepared by Giflin I3oltc Jurgens Architects
datcd May 21. 2009. At the timc of thc prcparation of this rcport, detailed site erading and
Ibuilding plans were not aailable for our reviev. [3ased on the conversation with clicnt,
i RGI expccts lhat the proposed building will be two-slory structurc, supported on perimeter
valls witli a bcaring load of 2 to 3 kips per lincar foot, and a serics of columns with a
maximum load up to 7 kips. RGI cxpccts that minar sitc grading vill bc needed for thc
development.
I Thc reconuncndations in lhe following sections of this rcport are bascd upon our
understanding of tlic abovc design fcatures. If actual t'eature vary or changcs arc made,
we should revicv thcm in ordcr to modify our rccatnmcndations as rcquired. In addition.
I RGI rcqucsts to revicw tinal dcsign druvings and specitictions to verify that oiv projcct
understanding is corrcct and that our rccomme.iations h;nc becn properly interprctcd and
I iicorporated inlo projcct design and construction.
2.0 SCOPE OFYORK
On May 26, 2009, RGI drilled a tolal oP six test borings to a maimum depth ol'21. t'eet
bclov grotmd stvfacc (bgs). "I'cst burings wcrc drillcd with a truck-mount. hollow stem
augcr drill rig. Tcst borings (I3-I through D-4) were drillcd vithin the proposcd building
I footprinl area. Test borings (13- and D-G) were drillcd in the proposed parking and
Jriveway arcas. Thc approimate test boring locations are shown on figure 2.
I Using the inl'ormtion obtained from our subsurface exploration, we performcd analyscs to
devclop gcotechnical recommcndations for projcct design and construction on thc
following:
I 5oil and groundvater conditions i Foundation support
: 3eismic considerations : Slab-on-grade support
Ii Site preparation and grading Utilities
i SUuctural till recommendalions i Pavements
I
I 'fhe Riley Group, Inc. a
I
