1121 <br /> JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 7447 <br /> EVERETT <br /> WASHINGTON <br /> A JOINT RESOLUTION OF EVERETT CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR CASSIE FRANKLIN RECOGNIZING THE <br /> LONGEVITY AND SERVICE OF THE EVERETT WOMAN'S BOOK CLUB <br /> WHEREAS, in 1894, a group of 23 women collected 1,000 books and established the first Library in the <br /> City of Everett, as well as committing to do one good thing for the community each year; <br /> AND, in addition,this group of mighty women helped start Everett's first hospital,and began the <br /> tradition of giving aid in times of need; <br /> AND, in the years since,the group has continued to contribute to the Library's collection and expenses, <br /> helped with the costs of the Caldecott and Newberry award books,donated to the NW Room,the library <br /> at Everett Community College,and the Children's Museum; <br /> AND, in a brief two years,the group created and funded a$50,000 endowment fund for the Everett ' <br /> Public Library; <br /> AND,further,the Everett Woman's Book Club will help create a library at Cocoon House to continue its <br /> legacy of promoting literacy and encouraging the joy of reading; <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,the Members of City Council,and Cassie Franklin, Mayor of the City <br /> of Everett,do hereby recognize the Everett Woman's Book Club for the continuous service that the club <br /> has given our City since its inception and to honor the past, present,and future generations of women <br /> serving as role models for the power of tenacity and persistence. <br /> Signed this 6th day of November 2019 <br /> ""42,A21\7 <br /> 0 <br /> Judy Tuohy, ice President Scott Bader, President <br /> ,t.s.,,tty <br /> ZN/54 <br /> uI Roberts, Council Member Jeff M ore,Council Member <br /> r <br /> ►� .h ,em.er Liz Vogel', s a, •'ember <br /> ‘4 <br /> 41114 I a I.
