This report presents the
- results of our field exploration, selective laboratory tests, and engineering anaiyses. The
purpose and scope of our study was outlined in our June 9, 1993 proposal.
{ Based on the results of our study, it is our opinion, the proposed building can be '
constructed on conventional foundations as planned. The most critical geotechnical
issues to be addressed are completing the pianned parking level excavation using an open
cut method or temporary shoring. Due to the dense condition of site soils, it would be
feasible to mz3ke a steeply inclined open cut provided that a portion of the existing
sidevalk or asphalt parking area can be removed. The second major aspect of site
earthwork involves filling the former east building basement planned for street grade
parking, while providing adequate trainage above the existing slab which will be located
below the new fill.
I We appreciate this opportunity to have been of service to you during this initial phase of
project development, and we look forward to working with you in the future. Should you
or your consultants have any questions about the content of this report, or if we can be
of further assistance, please call.
' Very truly yours,
I EARTH CONSULTANTS, INC.
I /

', .iL-,c.-
Ro e ...
