Several <br /> months back a building permit was issued for the placement of two new wall signs on the <br /> building located at 2202 Everett Avenue. This permit was conditionally approved by City <br /> of Everett Planning staff on April 10, 2002. The condition which was required to be met, <br /> and which is documented on the approved sign permit, is the removal of the existing roof <br /> sign. <br /> A site inspection was nade on August 30, 2002. It appears both proposed wall signs <br /> have been installed, however the roof sign remains on site. Section 36.030 of the <br /> Zoning Code lists "roof signs" as a prohibited sign rype within the Everett Ciry Limits. <br /> Section 36.200 of the Zoning Code states thf requirement for the removal of a <br /> nonconforming sign, when a new sign is proposed on a site, which contains an existing <br /> nonconforming sign. All signage is required to be shown at time of permit submittal; the <br /> roof sign was identified by the sign company and therefore was noted "to be removed." <br /> I sent a letter, dated September 5, 2002, to Doug's Lighting, bringing their attention to <br /> this matter, as they were the company who applied for and were granted the sign permit. <br /> Subsequently they have asked me to contact yourself. I am enclosiny a copy of the <br /> letter which they originally received. <br /> In order to correct this violation either the roof sign will need to be removed, or the wall <br /> signs will need to be removed.
