16. Though the roof deck is an alternate, GGLO is missing confirmation as to whether acoustical rated
construction will be installed in the roof deck area and whether it will be identified as an alternate. What will
be GGLO's actions on this item?
GGLO RESPONSE: The roof deck is over the day center, not sleeping units. We will provide a
detail and ask the acoustical engineer if this should be a concern.
17. Request GGLO engage Rushing & Emerald Aire in discussion about whether air from the corridor is
expected to travel under resident unit entry door by intension or by coincidental benefit and if sealing units
from hallway will negatively impact air quality in rooms?
GGLO RESPONSE: Rushing takes no exception to blocking air flow, however, discuss with
client about necessity of sound isolation at units as well as air supply. Cocoon House has already indicated a desire for
less sound isolation at doors to be able to hear what's going on inside the unit.
21. GGLO confirm what changes will be made to these rooms.
GGLO RESPONSE: No changes planned. Since cost is such an issue, our recommendation is
to discover what needs to be built-in, and surface treatments can be added later.
24. What does `no' mean in response to the comment?
GGLO RESPONSE: This is a typical detail. No intention to provide retractible threshold
seals unless needed for specific condition.
25. If necessary to change direction on this item we request conference call with GGLO, JGL Rushing &
Emerald Aire regarding eliminating duct liner on all supply ducts. We strongly object to the use of
Acoustical or any other internal duct liner due to the threat of proven bacterial growth. Further we also
object to the use of antimicrobial duct liner for the same reasons. ( See links to articles below) Preferred
solution is leave internal duct cleanable metal finish and install external insulation. Also isolating baffles
may be acceptable.
GGLO RESPONSE: We request that this be a coordination item for our coordination meeting
next week. We will forward the comment to the acoustical consultant.
26. Same comment as 25 above.
27. We strongly prefer small spring coil isolators integrated into the suspension connection to structure.
GGLO RESPONSE: Please provide example.
28. If the noted location is stated correctly please confirm that and where these items will be relocated.
GGLO RESPONSE: Coordination meeting item.
30. Two requests. Please confirm that the `noise information' requested by JGL is delivered and JGL's
response informs the design. Second, again we strongly object to duct liner, see comments in 25 above.
GGLO RESPONSE: We will request from Rushing for JGL
General Comment:
A. Will GGLO ask Ryan about cost impact of backer rod & Sealant at perimeter of drywall installation? We
are wondering if the added cost of these materials and labor could be offset by a different wall base?
Also all walls/GWB will have a variety of other penetrations on both sides (light switches, Fire alarm
system components, outlets, sconces & etc.) which will leak sound. The attached detail is not going to
work because the installation of a backer rod on the RC channel side is unachievable.
GGLO RESPONSE: Per specifications 092118,this should be included. In "Assumptions and
Clarifications," the only issue is Division 9 item 2 indicating resilient channels have not been
included at walls only. Resilient channels should still be included in the floors. I will confirm
with Ryan.
Links to microbial articles:
http://oeh.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/10473220301357
http://www.ta ndfo n l i n e.com/do i/abs/10.1080/10473289.2001.10464337
Matthew
3/6
