ARTICLE 10 - HOLIDAYS <br /> Section 1: <br /> The following days,or any day proclaimed by the Governor of the State of Washington as a designated <br /> holiday,are hereby designated to be paid holidays for those employees covered by this Agreement in pay <br /> status on the day before and the day after the holiday: <br /> New Year's Day <br /> Martin Luther King,Jr.Day <br /> Presidents'Day <br /> Memorial Day <br /> Independence Day <br /> Labor Day <br /> Veterans'Day <br /> Thanksgiving Day <br /> Day After Thanksgiving Day <br /> Christmas Day <br /> Two Floating Holidays At employee's choice with concurrence of the City <br /> If a legal holiday falls on an employee's regularly scheduled day off,he/she shall be granted an additional <br /> day to be scheduled by mutual agreement between the City and the employee within the same pay period <br /> subject to the provisions of the Holiday Leave Bank which is incorporated to this Agreement as <br /> Addendum B. <br /> Holiday proration for new hires: <br /> Full time regular employees hired before June 1 will receive two floating holidays. Employees hired <br /> between June 1 and September 30 will receive one floating holiday. Employees hired between October 1 <br /> and November 30 will receive 4 hours floating holiday. Regular part-time employees will receive pro- <br /> rated holiday hours based on regular work hours according to the preceding schedule. <br /> Section 2: <br /> Holiday pay shall be eight(8)hours regular pay for full-time employees and pro-rated according to the <br /> number of hours worked that pay period for part-time employees. <br /> The intent of this provision is to ensure that employees receive not more than ninety-six(96)hours of <br /> holiday pay per year. <br /> Section 3: <br /> An employee must request his/her floating holiday at least ten(10)working days in advance. The <br /> department head must accept or reject the date within five(5)working days of the request. Once <br /> accepted,it shall become a fixed holiday for that employee for that year. If the employee must work on <br /> that date at the City's request,he/she will be paid the same as work on any other holiday. <br /> Section 4: <br /> All employees covered by this Agreement who work any day that is designated as a holiday by this <br /> Agreement,shall be paid for such overtime work or work on such holiday,at an overtime rate based upon <br /> one-and-one-half times the employee's regular hourly rate which shall be determined by dividing the <br /> 26 <br />
