t z <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> Harting Consulting Engineers witnessed uniform and concentrated load tests of ClearView Railing's Fascia Mount <br /> Aluminum Railing System with 1/8"Stainless Steel infill between posts.Guardrail assembly manufactured,assembled <br /> and tested at ClearView Railing Manufacturing plant in Kent,WA. <br /> Testing was conducted 10/21/2016 in accordance with the International Building Code,2015 edition,Section 1607.8.1 <br /> handrails and guards,Section 1607.8.1.1 concentrated load,Section 1607.8.1,2 Intermediate rails,and ASCE 7 Section <br /> 4.5.1 <br /> DESCRIPTION <br /> The guardrail system consists of 36"high x 60"on center baluster spacing,fascia mount,extruded aluminum balusters <br /> and rails with individual 316 marine grade stainless steel cables.Balusters are welded to aluminum base plates. Base <br /> plates are attached with 4ea#14 x 3"stainless steel pan head screws to 2x8 hem-fir#2 deck framing members(deck <br /> structure sketch enclosed). <br /> The top rail of the system runs continuously between two corner posts and mounts into sleeves at each corner post. <br /> Bottom rails extend from baluster to baluster and attach with rail clips screwed to the post with two#10 x 114"screws, <br /> Bottom rail is then caped with an unpunched spacer.(9)Evenly spaced holes are drilled through the posts at 3"on <br /> center to receive and fasten the(9)1/8"cables made of 316 marine grade stainless steel. <br /> Corner baluster posts and cable tensioning posts are 1 1/2"x 2 1/2"x 1/8"extruded aluminum tubes and intermediate <br /> baluster posts are 1 5/8"x 1 5/8"x 0.080"internally stiffened extruded aluminum welded to'A"x 3'/:"x 5'A"aluminum <br /> base plates if needed. end Balusters are welded to'A"x 3 34"x 5'''A"base plate attached with(4)fasteners. See attached <br /> drawings for extrusion details, materials and specifications. <br /> 1 <br /> TEST CONFIGURATION <br /> (1)6'-0"x 36"bay with no return attachment to wall. <br /> TEST DECK CONFIGURATION <br /> The 16'-10"wide x 11'2"deep test deck was framed from 2x8 rim joist at a frame wall to a single 2x8 rim joist with 2x8 I <br /> hem-fir#2 joists @ 16"o.c.Double blocking was added at each baluster.The frame was bolted to a three beam steel <br /> test frame and sheathed with A"CD-X plywood.Refer to attached drawing for test deck framing and details. <br /> TEST EQUIPMENT <br /> Ram to apply load: Econo-Ram II model#FW2F110521,Serial Number EW323266A,250 PSI.Gauge to measure applied <br /> force:Dyna Link Model MSI-7200,Serial Number 45954,capacity 2000 Digital gauge.Tape measure will measure gross <br /> deflection,chain and connectors for attachment and hardware to attach to railing. <br /> 6/)/' <br />
