IrEariv CITY OF EVERETT
Public Works Department
August 28, 2018
John Turk
johntu@mckinistry.com
McKinistry
5005 3rd Ave South
Seattle, WA 98134
Owner: Snohomish County
Job Address: 3402 McDougall Ave
Plan Check No: M1808-076
RE: Building Permit Review Letter
Dear Mr. Turk,
In response to the application for a building permit, the plans have been examined and you are
advised that revisions may be necessary before a permit can be issued. Please review and
respond to the comments below.
Structural
1. It appears that the proposed unit will be anchored into the curb assembly that is located
on the roof level of the building as shown on Detail 1/M5.0. The callout refers to a
structural drawing that does not appear to be included in this submittal. Please provide
clarification to the anchorage of the new unit. If the anchorage needs to be designed,
please refer to ASCE 7-10 Chapter 29 for wind force requirements or ASCE 7-10 Chapter
13 for seismic loading requirements, whichever governs the anchorage design.
2. It is unclear from the drawings what the change in weight from the old unit to the new,
proposed unit will become. Per IEBC 2015 Sec 707.2, if the change of weight between
proposed and existing units increases existing framing member stresses by more than
5%, the existing framing will need to be evaluated by an engineer and provide stamped
calculations and drawings indicating any strengthening or stiffness upgrades for the new
unit, if strengthening is required. Please provide drawings, calculations, and a narrative
as required.
In order for the processing of your application to continue, it will be necessary to provide the
Building Division with two new sets of revised construction documents reflecting the corrections
requested. Please include a response letter indicating how the corrections were resolved.
O 3200 Cedar Street 0 425.257.8800 0
everettpw everettwa.gov PjOEverett,WA 98201 425.257.8882 fax everettcr
