The <br /> highest bid submitted came in at$842,336.04. The Engineer's Opinion of Probable Construction Cost is <br /> $730,000. <br /> The Water Main Replacement"0"Project consists of replacing approximately 1,400 feet of existing 6-inch <br /> diameter circa 1950 cast iron pipe. The location is along the east side of Rockefeller Avenue between Hewitt <br /> Avenue and 26th St. The existing 6-inch diameter pipe in these three blocks has broken a number of times <br /> since 1990. The block between Hewitt Avenue and California Avenue has also incurred breaks in the past 4 <br /> years. <br /> Traffic engineering believes the major impact to downtown traffic will be crossing Everett Avenue. To <br /> mitigate negative traffic impacts construction required to cross Everett Avenue will be done on a weekend, <br /> when traffic counts are the lowest. <br /> The budget remaining amount is arrived at by deducting the low bid amount and contracts for geotechnical <br /> ($8,041) and surveying ($12,943)and bidding($2,000) and in-house design costs through mid-April <br /> ($10,720)from the budgeted amount. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Award Contract for the construction of the Water Main Replacement"0"Project to B&L Utility, Inc. in the <br /> amount of$672,257.04,which includes Washington State Sales Tax. <br /> 31 <br />
