This
agreement required the City to develop,in consultation with WDFW and the PUD,the Lake Chaplain Tract
Wildlife Habitat Management Plan.
This plan manages timber harvest and forestry activities to maintain and enhance habitat for wildlife.
Periodic timber harvest creates continued shrub forage and enhanced habitat for certain species, such as deer
and northern flying squirrel.
This resolution,which authorizes the surplusing of timber and call for bids on the Uneven Cub Timber Sale
#124-9, will continue to accomplish the habitat objectives approved in the Lake Chaplain Tract Wildlife
Habitat Management Plan. The name"Uneven Cub"was derived from the forester sighting a mother bear
and her"Cub"in the harvest unit. This harvest unit is"Uneven"which contain trees of different planting
times.
RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council):
Adopt Resolution authorizing the surplus of timber and call for bids on the Uneven Cub Timber Sale#124-9.
130
