WA; Parcel 8 E 1/2 of NE
quarter of Sec. 24, Township 28, R4 Snohomish WA.
Due to an oversight when the planned layout of the apartment complex was
reviewed, two ef the buildings, numbers 10 and 11, remained without a
satisfactory means of access by the Fire Departmer . This situation was not
discovered until construction was well underway ana it was impossible to move
a building.
An on-site meeting was held on an undetermined date with
representing the contractor, Larry Crawford representing
Department, and Sam Preston and Engine Company 6 Captain
representing the Fire Department. At that meeting it wa:
lane, ten feet wide, extending between Buildings 3 and 4
corner of Buildin 11 rrould give the Fire Department acc
and 11. Nmile this is not ideal, it was felt that under
would SuffiCe.
Mike Palmer
the Building
Rabert Jack
agreed that a fire
to the southeast
ss to euildings 10
the circumstaces it
n October 21, 1986, Mr. Palmer came to the Fire Prevention office with the
information on the proposed surface known as "grass rings." It was approved,
and Me again went to the site to review the approach end location of the fire
lane. At the site, representing the contractor was Mike Palmer and
representing the Fire Department, John Whitaker and Captain Robert Jack with
Engine Company 6. The plan was approved with the understanding that the fire
lane would remain clearly marked and posted as such and maintained.
eecause of the surface, which is grass, the lane would not be easily
distinguished at night by a fire company responding to a fire. It was,
therefore, agreed that when the landscapers became involved at a later date,
we would meet again and determine a method of distinguishiig the fire lane
from the surrounding grass or lantlscape not covering the prepared roadbed.
