The enhancements to the traffic signals were <br /> to include the installation of backplates and reflective backplate borders. <br /> The commercially available backplates were not compatible with the existing traffic signal heads. Cost <br /> analysis for custom fabrication of individual backplates was conducted and determined to be cost prohibitive. <br /> Engineering staff are currently pursuing long-term replacement of the signal heads at the end of their useful <br /> service life. <br /> WSDOT has been informed that the grant will not be utilized and has closed the project. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Approve the proposed ordinance closing a special improvement project entitled"Everett Mall Way Traffic <br /> Signal Safety Enhancement",Fund 303,Program 083, as established by Ordinance No. 3130-09. <br /> 11 <br />
