Within any building area underlain
by compacted SILTS and SILT structural fill, it may be necessary
to place a granular material over the floor'early in construction
to provide a worki.ng surface. Traffic across these areas dur-
ing construction would probably contaminate these granular
soils, Therefore, we feel the above recommended 4-inch cap-
illary break would also be required prior to placing the slabs,
ParkinR and Paved Areas
Designated parking areas on the site snould be stripped of loose
surficial and organic dPnosii-s, and the exposed surface should
be compacted to 92 percent of the Modified Proctor maximurz dry
density. Structural fill as required, should be placed as pre-
viously reconended and also compacted to 92 percent, General
recouendatians concerning pavement and subgrade thicknesses
can be made based on local pratise and our experience with
soils of a similar nature as those on the site.
In our opinion, a 4 to 6 inch thick crushed rock base coarse
compacted to 92 percent of the Modified Proctor meiximum dry
density and a 2 inch rhick asphaltic concretP wearing surface
would provide a suitable pavement section. In heavy traffqc
areas, we feel that the base course or asphdlt paving thickness
should be increased about 2 inche.s or 1 inch, respectively.
Should a more detailed analysis and design recoendation Ue
required, California Bearing Ration tests could be conducted
n site soils, by our firm to provide design parameters.
