Provide an approved one hour fire separation between the hospital <br /> building and the new wing at required flours. These separations must be enclosed <br /> with one hour fire resistant construction, consisting of 2" x 4" studs spaced 16 <br /> inches on centers and covered on both sides with 5/13 inch plasterboard or its <br /> equivalent. The openings must be equipped with automatic closing or self-closing <br /> fire doors at least 13/4" thic: and covered on both sides with not less then 2e <br /> gauge sheet metal (aluminum not approved), or composite wood fire doors bearing the <br /> label of the Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc. Hood framing around the door openings <br /> must be covered with like metal 4 inches bach from the openings. Hinges must be <br /> bolted through the doors and secured to iambs with long screws in such a manner <br /> 1 as to prevent future sagging. <br /> c. The above regulation also applies to the stairs leading to the second <br /> Ylanding in the same egress. All stairways leading to required means of egress from <br /> the building, having three or more risers, must be equipped on both sides with <br /> approved handrails. <br /> 14. It was noted during the inspection that fabrics were draped on the <br /> oxygen cylinders. Covers of fabric or of any form of sheeting shall nat be used <br /> to cover anesthesia equipment for the reason that a cover will confine gas that <br /> may leak from a cylinder. When the cover is removed from the anesthesia machine <br /> under such conditions. a static charge may be created which could ignite the gas <br /> confined beneath the cover. Never drape an oxygen cylinder with ony material, such <br /> as hospital gowns, masks or caps. <br /> 15. Provide a metal container with cover to replace the paper barrel <br /> being used for combustible paper and cloth in the store room. <br /> 16.
