NE
Marysville, WA 98270
RE: Owner: James Surface
Job Address: 1517 Walnut St.
Plan Check No: B1402-009
Dear Mr. Surface:
In response to your application for a construction permit, your plans have been examined and
you are advised that revisions may be necessary before a permit can be issued. Please review
and respond to the comments below. These comments address building issues only. Additional
revisions, or additions, may be required by other departments (such as Utilities, Planning or
Fire). All references refer to the 2012 International Building Code (IBC), the 2012 International
Fire Code (IFC), the 2012 International Mechanical Code (IMC), and the 2012 International
Energy Conservation (IECC), as amended by the State of Washington and adopted by the City
of Everett. The current IBC referenced standard for accessible design is the 2009 "Accessible
and Usable Buildings and Facilities" (ICC/ANSI A117.1). Federal ADA regulations and standards
may be more restrictive.
In order for the processing of your application to continue, it will be necessary to
provide the Building Division with two complete new sets of construction
documents reflecting the corrections requested.
')( 1. Please fill in the enclosed worksheet to provide compliance with RCW 64.55.
2. Please provide all of the information that will verify compliance with the thermal
envelope requirements of WSEC 2012, Chapters 3 and 4.
3. The plans should include the requirement for an automatic fire suppression system to
comply with NFPA 13 R.
4. The plans should include the requirement for a monitored automatic fire detection
system per City of Everett ordinance 1902-92.
5. The proposed site plan indicates 5'-0" setbacks on the right and left sides. Please
address the following:
A. IBC 602.1 requires one-hour fire resistive construction.
B. IBC 705.5 requires these walls to be rated for exposure to fire from both sides.
C. IBC 705.8 limits the area of unprotected openings in these walls to 25% of the area
of the wall per story. This also includes crawl space vent openings.
//2
CITY OF EVERETT•3200 Cedar Street• Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8800 • Fax(425)257-8882 -_-
