CITY OF EVERETT
4rarr Public Works Department
November 19,2018 Nov D
zois
Ctry
Dr.Luigi Aquilini Joseph D.Bowen CityA R
U.S.Golden Eagle Farms LP Registered Agent tt°Me y' o
33083 Cockerham Island Rd U.S.Golden Eagle Farms LP
ffice
Sedro Woolley,WA 98284 401 S 2nd St.
Mount Vernon,WA 98273-3816
RE: Damage to 7300-7400 Block Lowell--Larimer Road,Everett, Washington
Gentlemen:
This letter is regarding damage to Lowell-Larimer Road,in Everett,Washington, which came to
the City's attention on September 7, 2017. The damage to the road prism was due to a loss of
lateral support caused by a large drainage ditch excavated on your property.
The City sent Dr. Aquilini a letter dated September 20, 2017,which is enclosed with this letter.
That letter stated that"the City will seek reimbursement from you (or from the entity that owns
the adjacent property,as appropriate)for all costs and losses the City incurs arising from or relating
to roadway and utility damage, including without limitation all costs of repairing that damage."
Since that time City staff, consulting engineers, and private contractors have worked to design and
construct a repair to the roadway prism and stabilize the area. Multiple alternatives were
considered, including constructing support piles and placing a fill prism in order to stabilize the
road prism. Ultimately, City crews were used to place City-owned material to stabilize the road
prism with a buttress fill in order to minimize costs for the repair.
The costs incurred to design and construct the repair to the road prism are as follows:
• $70,721.55 for survey and consultant design
• $308,165.48 for City construction labor, equipment, materials, and project management
• $133,837.29 for contractor costs related to street restoration
These costs do not include costs for impacts to traffic or impacts to the 30"sewer pipeline or the
existing 8"water main in the road prism. Back-up documentation is enclosed with this letter.
Accordingly, the City requires reimbursement in the amount of$512,724.32.
{"
0o 3200 Cedar Street 0 425257.8800 C) everettpw@averettwa.gov
!
