Il
Geotechnical Engineering Report
Home Base Warehouse - Everett
July 31,1997
NCA File No. 213497
Page 2
support paved access roads and/or parking area. We expect temporary excavation cuts up to about 30
feet on the west side of the detention pond and we expect up to 35 feet of fill in the ;c.N wetland area that
occupies the west side of the proposed structure. A clean granular fill is proposed for the wetland area to
provide live and dead storage for the storm water detention system. A 12-foot-deep wet vault with a top
elevation of 551 feet and a bottom elevation of 541 feet is proposed just south of the building and just
north of the detention pond. Off -site storm water detention is proposed by improving the existing storm
water pond located south of the site at the intersection of 100th Street SE and 16th Avenue SE. The on -
site detention facilities and the improvements to the off -site storm water pond were not in the scope of
work for this report. A paved parking area with "standard pavement" is planned in the central to eastern
portion of the site. "Heavy duty pavement" is planned along the entrance and access roads. A 2- to 5-
foot-tall rockery is planned for the northeast comer of the parking lot. A small single -story fast food
structure is planned for the southeast corner of the site, which should require only minor grading.
SCOPE
The purpose of this geotechnical engineering investigation is to evaluate subsurface soil and ground
water conditions in order to provide recommendations for site development. Specifically, our scope of
services includes the following:
Review published soils and geologic maps for the site.
2. Explore the subsurface conditions at the site by test pits, excavated with a track -mounted
excavator.
3. Provide recommendations for general site development, including site preparation and
grading.
4. Provide structural fill recommendations.
5. Provide recommendations for support of hard surfaces, such as slabs -on -grade and
pavement sections.
6. Provide recommendations for foundation design.
7. Provide recommendations for retaining walls.
8. Provide general recommendations for erosion control and site drainage.
9. Prepare a written report to document our findings and recommendations.
NELSON-COUVRETTE & ASSOCIATES, INC.
