T1.888.251.5276
Bellingham l Arlington I Oak Harbor
www.geotest-inc.com
- 111111111111111111111
July 24,2019
Project No.19-0194
Mukilteo School District
8925 Airport Road
Everett, Washington 98204
Attention: Keith Stefanson
Director of Facilities
Regarding: Limited Geotechnical Report Addendum
Horizon Elementary New Portable
Soil Classification and Settlement
222 W. Casino Road
Everett, Washington
•
Dear Mr. Stefanson:
As requested, GeoTest Services, Inc. (GTS) is pleased to submit this addendum for the
proposed Horizon Elementary School Portable building located at 222 W.Casino Road
in Everett, Washington. As requested, GTS returned to the site to on July 16, 2019 to
conduct Dynamic Cone Penetration (DCP) testing in order to classify the site soils in
accordance with the Minute Man Anchors® Installation Guide. All tests were
conducted to approximately 10 feet beneath the existing site grade. Please see the
attachments for the exploration locations and results. Based upon the blow counts,
the site soils would be classified as 4A for soils down to 10 feet from the existing surface
and 2 for soils greater than 10 feet in depth.
It should be noted that the approximately 1 to 2 inches of settlement that GTS had
referenced in our geotechnical report dated May 3, 2019 was due to the organic
content and wood debris encountered in the test pits during our investigation. In the
mostly anaerobic environment, the settlement due to the decaying material will take
place over decades and is not the typical settlement experienced in months with
loads on compressible soils. This should allow time for periodic inspections and the
tightening of the anchor straps, if necessary.
