Ted de Budden [(T 160[-C !(
To: Edward Golden
Subject: RE: CE18-0310 3631 Wetmore Avenue 98201?
Good morning Eddie,
I checked the records related to your inquiry, here is my findings and position in the matter.
The deteriorated retaining walls and the"handicap ramp"you have referred to were determined to be failing and in
violation several years ago. These structures were ordered to be repaired or replaced by the Hearing Examiner on
February 19th 2015 per code enforcement case#CE14-1022.
The erosion problem at the sidewalk and the plastic tarps at this location were ordered to be abated by Hearing
examiners order dated November 13th 2014 per code enforcement case#CE14-1022
A permit to reconstruct a retaining wall at this location was issued 7/3/2014.#PW1407-006. No work occurred under
this permit and the permit expired 8/11/2015.
I have reviewed the status of this matter with the building official and we are both in agreement with the following:
The occupants of the building rely on these Structures for the safe use of the building for access and egress and off
street parking.
The plastic tarps being used for erosion control adjacent to the public sidewalk is not an approved method for this
purpose. This condition is unsightly and the continued use of the plastic sheeting is considered little more than Rubbish
as defined by code. IPMC section 202
All of these structures and conditions remain in violation and are unsafe as defined by code. IPMC section 108.1.1
Due to these facts,
I fully support your enforcement efforts to abate these conditions including condemnation and vacancy of the dwelling
structure until required approvals have been issued.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide assistance in this matter.
Regards
Ted M. de Budden
477".
