ENGINEERING
PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT
April 5, 2018CIick here to enter a date.
Jon Beade, PE
Hargis Engineers
1201 Third Avenue Suite 600
Seattle, WA 98101
RE: Owner: Everett Public Schools
Job Address: 8702 7th Ave SE
Plan Check Number: E1803-180
Dear Mr. Beade,
In response to your application for a construction permit, your plans have been examined and you
are advised that the issuance of a permit is being withheld for the reasons listed below. These
comments address electrical issues only. Additional revisions or additions may be required by other
departments (such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the (2017 National Electrical
Code,) (2017 Chapter 296-46B WAC rules,) as amended by the State of Washington and/or
Washington State Energy Code 2015 Edition, and adopted by the City of Everett, unless stated
otherwise.
In order for the processing of your application to continue, it will be necessary to provide
the Building Division with two new complete sets of drawings reflecting the corrections
requested.
1. The load calculations on page E-400 shows that the feeder to panel DP is a 3&1/2' conduit
with 3 350kcmils and #4 AWG g. If this is right there is no grounded conductor or it is
single phase. The drawing also says that it is 3 phase. A 350kcmil copper conductor is only
rated for 310 amps per NEC 310.15 and the next standard overcurrent device per NEC
240.6(A) would be 350 amps not 400 amps which is shown. If these are indeed the actual
conductors and overcurrent device installed these issues should be corrected.
2. The new load shown on page E-400 exceeds the rating of both the conductor shown and
what the proper overcurrent device should be and cannot therefore be connected.
If you have any questions, please email or call me at (425) 259-7270. Upon submittal of the
drawings, your application will be given priority and plan reviews will recommence. All required
submittals shall be sufficient detail and contain sufficient information to ensure that the proposed
structure will be constructed in compliance with all adopted codes.
Please prepare a response letter showing where each item in this correction
letter is addressed on the plan set.
CITY OF EVERETT • 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8810 • Fax (425) 257-::
