c, a.
Geotechnical ingineering Report
Proposed Ahn Warehuuse
hlav 11, 2001
CG File No. ll21
Pagc 13
slab-on-grade tloors where moisture control is impoRant, the slab should be a minimum of 1 foo[
above surrounding grades.
Where used, foo[ing drains should consist of 4-inch-diameter, perforated PVC pipe that is
surrounded by free-draining matenal, such as pea gravel. Footing drains should discharge into
tightlines leading to an appropnate collection and discharge poinL For slabs-on-grade,a drainage
path should be provided from the capillary break material to the footing drain system. Roof
drains should not be connected to wall or footing drains
Rockeries
Rockeries may be used to face stable cuts in the native dense or very dense till. We do not
recommend rockery heights greater than 4 feet where the rockeries will be facing 51] soils. Taller
rockeries could bP used, but they should face a reinforced soil wall consisting of geogrid. 'I'he
lareral pressure section of this report should be used in the design of the reinforced soil w211.
We recommend that rockeries be constructed to Associated Rockery Contractors (ARC) current
guidelines and appropnate local standards, dated 1992. We recommend that the rockery have
adeyuate embedment, especially on slopes. We recommend that the base rock have a minimum
embedment of 2 feet below the ground surface,or 5 fee[horizontal, whichever is greater.
USE OF THIS REPORT
We have prepared this repoR for Mr. Hyong Nam Ahn, for use in planning and design of this
project. The data and report should be provided to prospective contractors for their bidding and
estimating purposes, but our report, conclusions, and interpretations should not be constiued as a
warranty of subsurface conditions.
The scope of our work dces not include services related to construction safety precautins, and
our recommendations are not intended to direct the contractors' methods, techniques, sequences
or procedures, except as specifically descrihed in our report. There are possible variations in
subsurface conditions. We recommend that project planning include contingencies in bu;et and
schedule, should areas be found with conditions that varyrom thse described in this report.
Cornerstone Geotechnical, Inc. / `i
