PROJECT AND SITE CONDITIONS
I 1.0 INTRODUCTION
I 'This report presents the results of our subsurface exploration, geologic hazazd, and preliminary
geotechnical engineering study for the improvements and addition to the existing Sno-Isle
I Skills Center. The location of the site is shown on the "Vicinity Map," Figure 1. The
locations of the existing school features, existing site topography, and the approximate
locations of the explorations accomplished for this study aze presented on the "Site and
Exploration Plan," F baure 2. At the time of our study, only conceptual plans for campus
improvements had been completed. Therefore, our recommendations aze preliminazy. The
conclusions and recommendations contained in this report should be reviewed and modified, or
verified, as necessary, once project plans and details aze developed.
1.1 Purpose and ScoDe
I The purpose of this study was to provide geotechnical recommendauons to be used in the
I preliminary design and development at the above-mentioned project. Our study included a
review of available geologic literature, drilling exploration borings, and performing geologic
stuc. s to assess the type, thickness, distribution, and physical properties of the subsurface
1 sediments and shallow ground water conditions. Preliminary geotechnical engineering studies
were also conducted to determine the rype of suitable foundations, anticipated settlements,
lateral earth pressures, floor support recommendations, and drainage considerations. This
I report summarizes our current fieldwork and offers development recommendations based on
our present understanding of the project. We recommend that we be allowed to review project
plans prior to conswction to verify that our geotechnical engineering recommendations have
{ been conecUy interpreted and incorporated into the design. Additional exploration or design
I modifications/review may be required to finalize project documentation.
I1.2 Authorization
Written authoriZation to proceed with this study was provided by Mr. Bob Miulli with the
i' Mukilteo School District N6. Our work has been accomplished in general accordance with our
scope of work letter dated Mazch 24, 2008, along with conversations and siu development
information supplied by McGranahan Architects and Huitt-Zollers, Inc. This report has been
prepazed for the exclusive use of the Mukilteo School District /J6 aud their agents for specific
application to this project. Within the limitations of scope, schedule, and budget, ow services
I have been performed in accordance with generally accepted geotechnical engineering and
engineering geology practices in effect in this azea at the time our report was prepared. No
other warranry; express or implied, is made.
I
 Z ASSOCGT6D EARTH SGENCE. ` (\
IEGqC-EEOCOI13A3-Projtatl100B0113lEEIWP 1
