PROJECT AND SITE CONDITIONS
(
1.0 INTRODUCTION
IThis report presents the results of our subsurface exploration, geologic hazazd. and preliminary
geotechnical eugineering study for the improvements and addition to the existing Sno-Isle
Skills Center. The locatiou of the site is shown on the "Vicirdty Map," Figure 1. The
locations of the existing school features, existing site topography, and the approximate
I locations of the explorations accomplished for this study are presented on the "Site and
Exploration P1an," Fignre 2. At the time of our smdy, only concepcual plans for campus
improvements had been completed. Therefore, our recommendations ue preliminary• The
( conclusions and recommendations contained in this report should be reviewed and modified, or
verified, as necessary. once ptoject plans and details are developed•
I1 1 Purpose and Scope
The purpose of this study was to provide geotechnical recomtnendations to be used in the
I preliminary design and development at the above-mentioned project. Our study inclu6ded c
review of avaIlable geologic literature, drilling exploration borings, and performing S S
srudies to assess the rype, thickness, distribution, and physi eloProrin'rtcail engineer ng stud es
sediments and shallow ground water conditions. Prelimiciary S
were also conducted to determine the type of suitable foundations, anticipated settlements,
lateral earrh pressures, floor support recouunendations, and drainage considerations. This
report summazizes our current fieldwork and offers development reeommendations based on
our present understanding of the project. We recommend that we be allowed to review project
plans prior to construction to verify chat our geotechnical engineering recommendations have
been correcfly interpreted and incorporated into the design. Additional exploration or design
modificationslreview may be required to finalize project documentation.
1.2 Au__ choiizaton
Written authorization to proceed with this study was provided by Mr. Bob Miulli with the
Mukilteo School District N6.
