I <br /> 1 shall be mixed until complete and uniform coating of the particles and thorough distribution <br /> I <br /> 2 of the asphalt binder throughout the mineral materials, and RAP is ensured. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 <br /> 1 <br /> 5 5-04.3(7) Spreading and Finishing <br /> 6 The mixture shall be laid upon an approved surface, spread, and struck off to the grade and <br /> I <br /> 7 8 elevation established. HMA pavers complying with Section 5-04.3(3) shall be used to <br /> distribute the mixture. Unless otherwise directed by the Engineer, the nominal compacted <br /> 9 depth of any layer of any course shall not exceed the following: <br /> I 10 <br /> 11 HMA Class 1" 0.35 feet <br /> 12 HMA Class 3/" and HMA Class '/2" <br /> I13 wearing course 0.30 feet <br /> 14 other courses 0.35 feet <br /> I <br /> 15 HMA Class %" 0.33 feet <br /> 16 <br /> 17 On areas where irregularities or unavoidable obstacles make the use of mechanical <br /> I 18 spreading and finishing equipment impractical, the paving may be done with other <br /> 19 equipment or by hand. <br /> 20 <br /> I 21 When more than one JMF is being utilized to produce HMA, the material produced for each <br /> 22 JMF shall be placed by separate spreading and compacting equipment. The intermingling of <br /> 23 HMA produced from more than one JMF is prohibited. Each strip of HMA placed during a <br /> I <br /> 24 25 work shift shall conform to a single JMF established for the class of HMA specified unless <br /> there is a need to make an adjustment in the JMF. <br /> 26 <br /> I27 5-04.3(8) Aggregate Acceptance Prior to Incorporation in HMA <br /> 28 For HMA accepted by nonstatistical evaluation the aggregate properties of sand equivalent, <br /> 29 uncompacted void content and fracture will be evaluated in accordance with Section 3-04. <br /> I <br /> 30 Sampling and testing of aggregates for HMA accepted by commercial evaluation will be at <br /> 31 the option of the Engineer. <br /> 32 <br /> I33 5-04.3(8)A1 General <br /> 34 Nonstatistical evaluation shall be used for the acceptance of HMA for this project. <br /> 35 <br /> I <br /> 36 The Equivalent Single Axle Load (ESAL) for the mix design for the following area: <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Broadway—7,000,000.00 <br /> I <br /> 39 Hewitt—7,500,000.00 <br /> 40 Rucker Avenue—8,500,000.00 <br /> 41 <br /> I 42 The mix design will be the initial JMF for the class of HMA.
